I teach on the teaching programmes, and I have delivered the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship, Degree Holder Entry Program, North Yorkshire Police Special Constables entry program.

My background is Law Enforcement having served 31 in years in the Metropolitan Police Service before becoming a second career academic.

I am a product of the OU having achieved my BSc(Open)Hons degree with the OU and then my Master of Public Administration with Portsmouth University both were distance learning. I therefore wished to promote the OU to other working adults as an alternative option to studying full time with another establishment.

The flexibility of dealing with students at all different times and not being tied to a 9-5 office-based role.

An interesting fact is that I am a Volunteer Justice of the Peace sitting in the NW West Magistracy Area. I sit mainly in Leeds and Bradford and occasionally Huddersfield. I cannot sit in North Yorkshire for fear of both Bias and Unconscious Bias. I find this role compliments my teaching because as a Volunteer I can emphasise with my Special Constables who are also volunteers.
