I currently teach on the following Open University courses: A113 (Revolutions); A342 (Central Questions in the Study of Music); B302 (Strategic Management)
I have had a diverse career taking me across the world as a musician and manager. After some time as a regular in the British Army I now serve as an army reserve officer in The Royal Yeomanry. Although I had studied full-time at university as a youngster, when I was in the regular army I completed an MBA and PhD with the Open University and this introduced me to the great institution that it is. I now work as a freelance musician, manager, and academic, and I enjoy using my experience when teaching on the range of modules at the OU.
At one time I was responsible for directing music at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, and Holyrood Palace for Investitures, State Banquets, and other royal events. I also led the Household Cavalry Band (on horseback) for the Queen’s Birthday Parade and have served on operational tours to the Balkans and Afghanistan.
Having lived and worked in Southern Africa, Germany, and Gibraltar, I now reside on the Essex coast with my wife, Kate (also an OU Associate Lecturer), and large labradoodle. We have twin daughters away at university.
