I teach on two Leadership Modules (B208 and B329). Previously I have tutored on business, management and strategy modules.
I completed my MBA and MSC in HRM at Caledonian University. Previously I was Head of Learning and Development within Forestry and Land Scotland an agency of the Scottish Government. Previously, I was a CIPD lecturer at City of Glasgow College and Chair of CIPD Organisational Development Group and I am currently a Chartered Fellow of CIPD and Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy.
I have delivered Leadership development interventions at all levels of organisations. This has been in a range of organisations including; 3 different Scottish Local Authorities, the Police, NHS and Scottish Government.
I was already part-time lecturing at City of Glasgow College and applied to tutor at the Open University as I heard great things about their quality of learning and teaching materials. I was very impressed with both.
I enjoy everything at the OU teaching the learning material, I love working with students to help with their understanding and applying the knowledge and learning. The most enjoyable part is seeing the students flourish and develop both in their knowledge and understanding of the learning material and their growth and development as an individual. Hearing their success stories after the module is the final ‘icing on the cake’.
An interesting fact was I used to be an amateur and professional boxer. My professional career was quite short-lived due to injury. However, as an amateur I boxed in the Albert Hall in the ABA finals. I also competed in the Olympic trials for a spot at the Barcelona Olympics.
