The Open University Department for Policing has agreed a new contract with North Yorkshire Police to continue delivering a suite of blended learning qualifications that equip officers with the skills required to meet the demands of twenty-first century policing.

The first recipient of the Steven Chase Memorial Award was Dr Paul Walley who is the Director of Learning in the OU Business School’s Centre for Policing Research and Learning (CPRL).

The Centre for Policing Research and Learning (CPRL) honoured its former chair with the recent Steven Chase Memorial Lecture and Award. 

According to this year’s Business Barometer report published by The Open University and the British Chambers of Commerce, three-quarters (73%) of UK organisations are currently experiencing skills shortages, which remain one of the top challenges facing employers.
