Middle managers and team leaders across a range of organisations are set to benefit from a new, online course designed to help develop their practical skills and knowledge in performance-based coaching. Coaching for Performance is a new, supported online course created by the Executive Education team at The Open University Business School (OUBS) in conjunction with coaching specialist, Management Futures.
Research from the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) suggests that coaching is becoming increasingly popular, with organisations focusing more on traditional face-to-face interaction. The CIPD’s 2014 annual Learning and Development Survey found that 76% of organisations offered coaching or mentoring and of those that didn’t, 12% were intending to introduce it within the next year.
Coaching for Performance has been developed in response to a growing demand for flexible, work based courses that help busy managers improve the performance of their teams, ensuring they excel in today’s competitive environment.
Good coaching is key to ensuring employees reach their full potential but in some cases, a lack of the required skills by managers is reported as a barrier to a successful outcome. Bringing learning directly into the workplace, this short course enables organisations to invest in their employees by showing managers how to embed the techniques they learn into their daily work lives.Sue Parr
