Martin Upton, Director for The True Potential Centre for the Public Understanding of Finance (PUFin) at The Open University Business School introduces us to the Centre which aims to increase the UK’s financial literacy through cross-sector research and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC’s).
This unique centre of research excellence brings together academics with expertise in the regulation of the financial services industry; investment, pension funds and mis-selling; consumer behaviour and customer relationship management; the role of emotions in financial decision-making and taxation.
Martin explains how and why this Centre was developed and will introduce you to the first of the Centre’s three free MOOC’s - Managing My Money - which starts on the 12 May 2014. He also demonstrates what a MOOC is through an example that covers household budgeting, borrowing and debt management, managing savings and investments, arranging insurance cover and organising a pension.
