Professionals looking to improve their understanding of management accounting get some help today with the launch of The Open University’s latest bite size course.
Business Management: Fundamentals of Management Accounting will be hosted on the OU’s partner platform, FutureLearn and is open for enrolment today, 18 February 2021.
Leading academics from the OU’s Business School have designed this short course to be accessible for students of all levels of financial skills and confidence.
It’s aimed at managers, professionals and entrepreneurs – not just those with accounting responsibilities – to give a broader understanding of management accounting techniques.
Microcredentials can be an ideal way to learn as you earn, helping professionals to quickly gain new skills that they can immediately apply to their work.
Mark Taylor, who is the Lead Educator of the Management Accounting microcredential, says this particular course is an ideal starting point for people who need a better grasp of management accounting:
This course is intended to be the first step for anyone who wants to broaden their understanding of management accounting and gain key practical skills, including budgeting, planning, control and costing methods. You’ll learn how management accounting skills are key to inform your professional decision-making, improve your effectiveness and enhance business performance. It draws on both theory and real-life examples which will enable you to apply them to your work.
