A new eight-part series of the OU/BBC collaboration The Bottom Line on Radio 4, presented by OU honorary graduate Evan Davis, starts on Thursday 4 February.
Dr Bjorn Claes, a Senior Lecturer in Operations Management, and Dr Henry Lahr, a Senior Lecturer in Finance, are the OUBS academic consultants for the business conversation programme with people at the top giving insight into what matters.
The first episode is titled ‘Return to Brexit’ as The Bottom Line debated the pros and cons of being in the European Union almost five years ago, just before the EU referendum. In a tribute to Radio 4’s The Reunion, the programme has reassembled most of the original contributors to get a sense of whether hopes and fears have been delivered. From current customs glitches, aspirations to increase UK global exports, to Brussels red tape versus ease of trading in a European Single Market.
What do Evan’s guests – Jon Moynihan (venture capitalist); Rachel Kent (head of financial services regulation at the law firm Hogan Lovells); Julia Gash (artist and entrepreneur); and Christopher Nieper (managing director of clothing manufacturer David Nieper) – think now?
The programme is broadcast at 20:30 every Thursday and repeated on Saturdays at 17:30. The podcast is available on the Radio 4 website following transmission.
You can find out more about The Bottom Line via the OpenLearn website which will have extensive content in connection with this and past series, as well as business in general.
