After graduating from Queen Mary University of London, John worked in the IT industry for many years, initially in systems development, infrastructure planning, and systems administration in large companies in the UK and Canada.
He then joined a Silicon Valley start-up, where he stayed for over 20 years, working in several functions including marketing, customer support, and product management, and also acting as a management consultant for the company’s customers. He was responsible for managing projects in several European countries, the USA, South Africa, Japan, and the Middle East.
John now lives in South Devon and is an Associate Lecturer in the Open University’s Faculty of Business and Law, and in the School of Computing & Communications, where he tutors management and computer systems development modules.
In 1991 John was a member of the first cohort of students who were awarded the MBA degree by the Open University Business School. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
