After completing a BSc (1st Class Hons) in Psychology with The Open University, I started my doctorate programme with the OU Business School and was recently awarded a Ph.D. I have joined the Department for Strategy and Marketing at The Open University in August 2024 as a Lecturer in Marketing. Prior to this role, I was an Associate Lecturer at Coventry University London. I also worked in the public education sector with children and young people for nine years.
I am particularly interested in services marketing, value creation, health and the relationship between humans and technology. I have explored these aspects in my doctoral thesis on value in the lived experience with a focus on health technology in the context of chronic illness such as type 1 diabetes. I am interested in promoting the voice of underrepresented groups in research with a particular interest in research with children and adolescents. My research interests also include social marketing in the context of health and wellbeing as well as integrated approaches to research that draws insight from different disciplines. I follow a qualitative methodological approach with particular consideration to phenomenology and ethnography.
I joined the Department for Strategy and Marketing on undergraduate module teams such as B206 (Understanding customers) and B328 (Marketing in Action) as well as a postgraduate module, BB842 (Sustainable Creative Management). I previously taught at Coventry University London on undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as Global Business MBA, Global Healthcare Management and Leadership and International Project Management. I also supervised postgraduate students on their dissertation projects in Global Healthcare Management and Leadership. I am an Associate Fellow in Higher Education, and I am interested in co-creative teaching practices.
I am passionate about public engagement, inclusive research and the democratisation of knowledge. I embedded an advisory phase into my doctoral project which involved consultations with adolescents and their caregivers aimed to inform research design, improve research quality and promote knowledge co-creation.
