Learning at Work Week hat-trick for renewable energy suppliers

Bristol Energy award winners

The Open University Business School is a proud supporter of the biggest festival of workplace learning in the UK known as Learning at Work Week. This support is part of Executive Education’s partnership with Campaign for Learning, a national not-for-profit organisation that promotes lifelong learning, which has organised this annual awareness campaign every May since 1999.

With the theme of ‘collaboration’ in 2019, the OUBS sponsored award for ‘Supporting Business and Organisational Goals’ saw Bristol Energy pull off a hat-trick in the ‘SME’ category. They highlighted their sustainability focus for Learning at Work Week in May 2019 to have the winning entry once again. As a renewable energy supplier, they encouraged both personal and organisational awareness and participation in making the organisation and their lives more sustainable. Learning and development manager Georgina Elliott remains instrumental to their continued success as an inspiring and creative learning champion for the company.

Liz Moody, Director of Executive Education in OUBS, and Julia Wright from the Campaign for Learning presented Bristol Energy with their trophy. Liz (far left) is shown with, left to right: project team member Hugh Cavanagh; Georgina Elliott; and Managing Director Marek Majewicz.

Maintel, a Blackburn-based Cloud and Managed IT company, claimed the award for ‘large organisations’. Unfortunately, the weather intervened for their award ceremony which had to be cancelled due to some rare snowfall this winter. However, in true awards-style, a video message was sent by Liz to the winner!
