Professional biography

Cinzia (Vincenza) Priola is a Senior Lecturer in Organization Studies based in the department of People and Organisations at the Open University Business School, faculty of Business and Law. Before joining the Open University in 2014 she has worked at Aston, Keele and Wolverhampton Universities. She is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, a Chartered Psychologist and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Cinzia regularly presents her work at academic conferences and is frequently invited as guest speakers at academic and professional seminars and events. She has organised several conferences, conference streams and symposia. She is an associate editor of the journal Gender Work and Organization. Since 2014 she is a visiting professor at the University of Cagliari (Italy) in the faculty of human sciences and has also taught in Libya and France.

Research interests

Research interests and publications are in the fields of work and social inclusion, gender and sexuality in organisations, identities in the workplace, diversity, employee branding, management practices and higher education management. Recent projects have included studies on the experiences of sexual minorities in social enterprises, women entrepreneurs, employee branding in the service sector, gender identities in Islamic countries and feminism in the academy. An early area of research was team work. Cinzia’s research is grounded on critical theory and discursive perspectives. She has supervised four PhD students to successful completion and is currently supervising four students: Gemma Wright, Marco Distinto, Caroline Micklewright and Rianne Ten-Venn.

Teaching interests

Teaching interests and expertise is in the area of Management theory and practice, Organisational Behaviour, Leadership and Research Methods, at PhD, PG and UG levels. However I have also taught courses on Contemporary Issues in HRM and Diversity at work. At the OU I am the module chair for the workplace project and the dissertation modules (B865 and B804) for the new MSc in HRM and have contributed to B204 (leadership and change).
