A programme was formed around a robust analysis of the core behaviours that are essential to driving the business forward. Using this as criteria, the company identified emerging leaders most likely to maximise the impact of the programme, while creating more tailored development routes for others.
The programme included a series of Open University Business School (OUBS) expert led, face-to-face workshops that combined cutting edge theory with practical application, allowing those taking part to deepen their understanding of core leadership attributes and their importance to the Phoenix Group. The workshop series was followed by the '90 Day Challenge' - which saw teams of participants applying what they had learned towards real business challenges that the Phoenix Group faces.
The Phoenix Group/OUBS leadership development programme has empowered future leaders of the company to take immediate ownership of tackling major challenges. Many of the 90 Day challenge projects have been taken up and several participants on the programme have progressed into more senior roles. The programme itself has become the company's gold standard for developing the leadership capacity and talent pool across the organisation and has contributed to the creation of a learning culture.
