The Open University Business School (OUBS) has partnered with The Whole Thing Group to bring you a series of panel discussions with a select group of leading, international board level executive leaders that are faced with steering their business through the C-19 pandemic.

This is a unique opportunity for you to hear the experiences and lessons learnt by expert leaders and directors of change. Each panel will discuss one of our four business critical themes affected by this crisis: Business; Communication; Finance and Social innovation and leadership.

This webinar series will be broadcast live at the following UK times and dates:

  • 9am - 10am Wed, 3 June 2020 – Business Innovation and Leadership
  • 9am -10am Wed, 17 June 2020 – Communication Innovation and Leadership
  • 9am -10am Wed, 1 July 2020 – Finance Innovation and Leadership
  • 9am -10am Wed, 15 July 2020 – Social Innovation and Leadership

Each session will run for up to 1 hour with a Q&A session at the end.

Professor J. George Frynas

Professor of Strategic Management at OUBS. George has been published extensively on topics in CSR, strategic management and international business, and is author and co-author of 4 books and over 40 academic articles. He is the Communications Associate Editor of the prestigious British Journal of Management and the International Journal of Management Reviews.

Simon Wallace

Simon is the founder and managing director of The Whole Thing Group and passionate about performance improvement. An MBA graduate of The Open University, he is a creative entrepreneur and trusted advisor to some great companies that are achieving great things.

Guest Panellists

David Roberts

David is Chief Financial Officer at Bladon Micro Turbine.

David has substantial experience in senior financial roles within the manufacturing and engineering sectors, including CFO Chamberlin plc (AIM listed), European FD at Titanium Metals Corporation (NYSE listed) and FD of Rear Vision Systems (a division of Britax plc) (UK Main listed). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and qualified as an accountant with Ernst & Young.  David also has Fellowship membership of the Association of Corporate Treasurers.

Catherine McManus

Catherine is Partner and Head of Tax at Wylie & Bisset LLP.

Catherine is an experienced tax practitioner in both corporate and personal taxation. She worked for almost 20 years in a top 10 accountancy practice before joining Wylie & Bisset in 2015 where she has been Tax Partner for last 3 years. Wylie & Bisset are a full service accountancy and advisory Firm. Their core services are audit & accountancy, taxation, corporate finance and insolvency services.

Tom James

Tom James is the CEO & CIO of TradeFlow Capital Management Pte Ltd, a fintech based in Singapore.

His 30 years+ commercial exposure was gained through a broad range of senior executive roles in trading, investment management, commodity finance (Trade and Project) and advisory. He is called upon by governments and multinationals for advice on market developments. In 2014 he was called upon to serve as Senior Energy Advisor to the United States Department of Defense (TFBSO) and he currently sits on the Financing Advisory Resources panel for Enterprise Singapore. He co-founded the Technical Analysts Society of Singapore in 1999 and has been a member of the Energy Institute (UK) since 1991. Since 2000 Tom has built up a track record of combining technology with best practice in order to create innovative industry services and solutions. He is also a successful published author, having documented and shared his deep industry expertise through a series of nine books and publications with Wiley Finance, Palgrave Macmillan and Springer. Some of these textbooks have become required material for professional exams and university. In 2020 he joined the “Singapore Space Accelerator Program” developing start-ups in Space Tech.
